LAKE REPORT

April 2013

A really cold and slow start to the month with nothing showing in the first week. As soon as the sun showed up so did the fish with some great results towards the middle of the month. And it just got better as some of the larger residents started to hit the bank.

With 5 at 20+, 25 at 30+, 10 at 40+ and 5 between 51lb 8oz and 55lb 10oz it's looking good for the weeks to come.

September 2012

September has been very slow with a quite a few blank's. Loads of fish topping but very few taking the bait with only 39 fish landed for the month; which were as follows: 1 22lb koi, 6 between 20-30lb, 13 30-35lb, 10 35-39lb, 9 40-49lb14oz and 1 53lb4oz mirror.

Not the best catch report to say the least but the saving grace is all the lakes in our region have been as hard as nails.

August 2012

August has been blisteringly hot reaching 42C at one point, but all things said and done it has not been a bad month. A total of 84 fish on the bank, only 14 under 30lb. 46 fish between 30lb and 39lb, 21 fish 40lb to 49lb 11oz, 2 commons 1 50lb and one 56lb. And the best news of all we have another 60lb in the lake, well done to Ian Saddington with 12 fish 7 30's up to 37lb 10oz, 4 40's up to 45lb 10oz and a monster common at 62lb 5oz! A PB for Ian and another 60lb for us; we now have 3 60's.

And with nearly 2 months fishing left a 70lb before we close is still a possibility fingers crossed.

July 2012

It was a hard start to the month which slowly picked up as the month went on. There were 116 fish caught in total with two 50s, a 52lb common and a 54lb 7oz common. There were also 26 fish over 40lb with the biggest of these being a common and a mirror both weighing 49lb 15oz soon to be a couple of new 50s in the lake.

Fingers crossed for some good results in August, we will keep you posted.

June 2012

It's been a good month and so far it has been the best month of the season for numbers of fish caught with a few good fish as well. The month saw 131 fish caught in total with most of them coming from the open water spots off the gravel bars and clay beds.

Large beds of pellet have seemed to be the favoured tactic recently with a scattering of boilies over the top. There have been 33 forties to 49lb 4oz and three fifties with the biggest of the month being a common weighing 56lb 11oz.

The fish have finished their spawning so I'm expecting good results for July and I will keep you posted.

May 2012

Finally we got some good consistent weather and it has made a big difference to the fishing with a lot more fish gracing the bank, the fish have spawned over the 3rd and 4th week which didn't massively affect the numbers of carp caught but made it a little harder to get the bigger fish out.

There was 92 fish out in total for the month with 16 of those being over 40lb and 2 over 50lb, a 53lb 11oz common and a 58lb 3oz common.

Now the spawning seems to be all finished and the weather is a lot more consistent after the awful weather we have had so far this year I'm looking forward to seeing what June has to bring and I will keep you informed.

So far this year I have seen 26 new 40s that have come on since last year and 2 new 50lb carp one mirror and one common.

APRIL 2012

It's not been the greatest of starts to the season with the fishing proving to be very hard which is far from normal for this time of year. The weather has been terrible up to now, it has rained every day in April and we have also had some very cold weather with the night time temperatures still dropping below zero.

The month has produced 77 carp to 53lb, with twenty four over 40lb and two 50s, a 52lb 9oz common and a 53lb mirror and the 40s ranging from 40lb 8oz up to 49lb 6oz.

The weather is supposed to be gradually warming up over the next couple of weeks which will certainly make a great improvement on the fishing, let's hope the forecast is right and I will keep you informed on May's results.
