It has been a difficult month with the weather up and down for this time of year the fishing has been the hardest i can recall in the five years i have been here. After spawning in May the fish got back on the munch and at the start of the month we saw some good fish out, the biggest a 57lb 7oz common.
However since then the fishing has got harder and it has proven difficult to say the least to land the bigger fish. overall total for the month was a crappy 84 fish with only 13 over 40lb 3 of which were 50+ a 57lb 7oz common 55lb mirror and 53lb common pretty crap but then i suppose thats fishing.
I would like to end my report with a request that all anglers notify me immediately of snagged fish or lost tackle due to our loss this month of one of our 50+ mirrors found trailing 70yds of line and tackle.
Thanks. Mark.
May has been a very productive month which was surprising with the fish spawning on and off over the space of 3 weeks. There has been a total of 154 fish out over the month with one group of four managing to take 78 fish in a week – well done lads, good angling. Although its been a good month with the numbers of fish on the bank it has proven hard to get some of the bigger fish out, hopefully that will change for June.Out of 154 fish landed, 13 fish have been over 40lb, up 49lb 9oz Common and four 50+ fish with the biggest being a Common at 57lb 11oz.
All in all not a bad months fishing – now lets see what June has to bring.
The gates opened again on the first week in April and it started well with some good fish on the bank for the first groups of the season. Every week so far has produced at least one fish over 50lb with the biggest of the month being a 60lb 4oz mirror, we have also had five 50 plus fish a 57lb common, 54lb 8oz common, 55lb 3oz common, and the same mirror two weeks on the trot weighing 55lb and 54lb 9oz. There has also been plenty of other good fish, 13 over 40lb with the biggest 40 being 48lb 11oz.
There has been another 67 fish over 30lb and the total for the month being 103 fish! Not bad for the first month of the season.
The most productive tactic so far this year has been a large wide spread of boilies, zig rigs have also accounted for a few good fish on hot days.
I will keep you posted with the results for May.
